If you haven’t picked up on the trend from my previous articles yet, you’ll know that I’m a sucker for roguelikes and RPGs. What you may not know is that I’m all for the deep storylines and side-scrolling action of games past, and Death Story by Team Neko delivers all of that and them some.
But with less than 13 days left in its campaign, Team Neko has only managed to raise a little over $5,000 of their $12,666 goal.
This lukewarm response may be due to the fact that this is Team Neko and team lead Ryan “Ice” Hansen’s first fundraising venture. It certainly isn’t Death Story itself, which promises rich character development, Metroidvania-inspired exploration and some of the best, most story-relevant art I’ve ever seen.
With Death Story currently Greenlit on Steam, one can only hope that Team Neko will continue plugging away regardless of the outcome of their campaign.
