There’s a new crowdfunding campaign on the way – this time, it’s for Chronicles of Elyria. The developer states that the title would be crowdfunding in early 2016.
Chronicles of Elyria is an upcoming MMORPG with a wonderfully intriguing twist: characters age and eventually die, forcing the player to focus on their character’s role in the larger story of the game world, and to achieve something with their limited time in the sun.
Impending, unavoidable death certainly sounds like a decent motivation to get stuff done.
Chronicles of Elyria‘s game world is said to be fully destructible, with finite resources. Furthermore, the game dismisses the class system entirely, running on a skill-based system. Players have full freedom to create the perfect character for them, living out their temporary lives however they please, and affecting the world around them in the process.
If only the real world had a motivation like inevitable death. Then we’d all make the most of our days! Fortunately, Chronicles of Elyria seeks to remedy this problem. Look out for it on Kickstarter (or elsewhere) in early 2016. In the meantime, interested backers can visit the game’s official website for updates.
